[SOLVED] easyVDR 3 clean Installation in NUC6i5SYK. Sound and remote problem.
#1
Hi.

Till now I had an old installation of easyvdr 3.0 alpha 2 working correctly in my system. Today I updated to easyvdr 3.0 stable, but I have two issues after the first setup (may be I missundertood bad some messages during setup proccess):

- Sound is not working.
- Remote control is not working.

As I have easyinfo with the alpha and with the stable version, I upload them in order you can give some clue about what is working wrong in my new stable version.

Thanks and regards.
Javier B.

Moin moin jb,

do you retried multiple the "SetupTool" via console for audi and lirc?

For audio I found this hint to update freshest alsa - especially for NUC -> may help
And the errors on WIFI in the syslog may be fixed by one of the firmware from here.

I do not know.. may be, Could that be the cause of the issue with sound and remote control? Is there a way to solve the problem that the multiple SetupTool may have caused?

I thought that as with the alpha2, the audio drivers will be installed by default in the NUC. So, do I have to do this?
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/alsa-daily.
apt update.
apt install oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms
Reboot the system.

Well, as I have the NUC directly connected to the router I do not need the wifi drivers, so I am not worried about them... unless you tell me that it can affect to the system performance.

The remote control control is not working in this installation, but it works in the Alpha2 version, do I need also some aditional drivers?

Thanks and regards.

I am sorry, do you mean in the script launched automatically after an ssh conection?

I try to enter VDR-Setup, and I receive this message:
Code:

Google translator tells me that:
Code:
You have no admin rights. Please enter the password first and then again
But I do not know what to do  Huh . I had had entered the password when I connected.

May be it is obvious, but I am sorry, not for me. How can I enter there?

Regards.

Jes Sir, that is right Point ;-]

At the ToolMenu what you see after ssh/putty/Console-Login:
at the bottom choose "Admin werden" and enter the password "easyvdr"
after this choose "VDR-Setup"
here you can restart/reconfigure all steps of the setup.

Hi. Thanks for the help but...

I entered in the audio setup and I obtained the msg01.jpg and msg01.jpg that I have uploaded.

Tv screen got black with a message, but no sound is played (I remember that when I installed alpha2 tv played diferent sounds).

I am sorry for the inconvenience, I am not able to find out where to change the sound output.

I tried to configure also the remote control with the setup but with no luck neither.

I do not know what exactly to ask you more or what info can I give you.

Regards.
Javier B.

Hi again.

I entered in the option experimental/pulse audio and it seems that I achieved get the sound working.

Thanks for your help.

Now I would need to reconfigure remote control to work. In alpha2 I had a Microsoft MCE configured. What can I do to check what is the problem with the remote?

Regards.

Hi Javier
You must Login in the vdr-setup
go to Fernbedienung and check what is your Receiver (Fb-Receiver)
after this go to Fernbedienung and take your Fernbedienung MS_MCE or
your Model .
At last reboot your VDR new.

Hi Oberlooser.

I did that this morning but it seems not to work.

Something that can be checked by other way?

Hi

I have installed the alpha2 version in a ssd hard disk and the stable version in another, I do not think the problem is about the BIOS because the remote works fine in the same NUC with de ssd of the alpha2 version and it do not work with the ssd of the stable version.

In the webportal the CIR Receiver is ITE8713_CIReceiver and the remote MS_MCE (is an One for all, configured as MS MCE). I guess it can be checked in the two easyInfo of the first post (one for each version of easyVdr).

The keyboard works fine and I can change the channels or move over the OSD.

Regards.

Hi again.

I have done another time the changes that Overlooser told me. You can see the two images uploaded on this post, but with no luck again.

I upload also on this post the list of packages installed in alpha2 version and in Stable version, just in case that can give some idea about some CIR package that is missing in my Stable installation.

When I run this command:

Code:
cat /proc/bus/input/devices

I obtain in Apha2 version those results:

Running this command in boht versions:
Code:
sudo ir-keytable -t --device=/dev/input/event3

Any of them detects the key pressing on the remote.

I have checked some pages about infrared configuration in ubuntu on internet but that is hard information to me for understanding it.

I am sorry, If I can give you more info or run more test, just ask for it.

In the meantime, till the problem with the remote/CIR receiver is solved, I let installed the ssd hard disk with the alpha2 version in order we can use easyVdr at home.

Regards.
Javier B.

Hi Javier
What happens when you take the remote.conf and lircd.conf from the ssd
From your old installation 2.5

Is worth a try

Hi Oberlooser.

I think I do not understand you.
You mean if I remove remote.conf and lircd.conf in the installation of easyvdr 3 Alpha2? What happens if I try to use the remote?
or you propose to copy those files to the installation of easyvdr 3 Stable?

[Edited: I have compared the files in both versions with the easyvdrInfo files and in Alpha2 and in the Stable version the files are equal]]

Well. Thanks a lot anyway.

It seems that is happening the same issue that when I tried to test the Alpha4 version... see this thread: http://www.easy-vdr.de/thread-17447.html

There, michel8 tried to helpme, but I decided to wait till the Stable version, so, we did not keep on solving the issue.

The last info demanded in that thread by michel8 was:

(04.05.2016, 22:06)michel8 schrieb: could you please post the content of
   /lib/udev/rules.d/40-ir-keytable.rules
the output of
   ir-keytable -v
and the content of
  /var/log/easyvdr/easyvdr-set_keytab
In the Logfile I have seen, that you are using an MCE-CIR Keyboard/Mouse, Did you also had this component in use with your last successfull remote-control configuration with Alpha 2-ISO?

Do you think that can be useful if I find out this info for the version that is working (V3 Alpha2) and for the version that is not working (V3 Stable)
in order to compare it?

May be I can check if the sofware that should be running to make work the remote is trully working? If someone could tellme which command should I use?

Regards.

Hi
What happens when you enter irw on the console and press some keys on the remote control
Is something displayed.
So you can see if the remote control sends anything and something is important.

Moin moin Overlooser

With the alpha2 with irw when I press a key in the remote, the pressed key is displayed on de ssh window and.... when I have changed the hard disk with the Stable version, the first start ... magically  Smile ... the remote worked and irw displayed also the pressed keys... but... after that I have rebooted twice or three times to test again with irw, in all of those times, irw had no response  Sad .

How can be it possible? Sometimes works (only one) and many times do not work.

Does this behaviour give any clue to you? I am perplexed.

Regards.
Javier B.

[Edited: I have tried many more times (7-8), but in any of them irw had any response to the key pressed on the remote]
[Edited a second time: I upload syslog since the first start when remote worked till the second reboot where remote did not work anymore in order you can see if there are something wrong or different in the logs]

Hi Bleifuss2.

I run the command in the version alpha2, where remote works fine, and in the Stable version. I have had luck and in one of my tries the remote has been working in the stable version, so I give you the output with the Stable version with remote working and without working:
Code:
In v3 Stable (where remote does not work):

[email protected]:~$ ls -l /dev/input/by-path/*

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In v3 Stable (this time exceptionally remote is working):

[email protected]:~$ ls -l /dev/input/by-path/*

In v3 Alpha2 (where remote works):

Hi, the output is posted in a previous post, I copy it again:

When I run this command:

I obtain in Apha2 version (remote works fine) those results:
