Just want to tell you that we will improve project browser and consider 
your suggestions.. This will probably be implemented in next 30 days..

My suggestion is that the main project page shows up only categories, 
after clicking on one its subcategories and projects are displayed. 
Information about each project is also displayed; that includes short 
description, graphical progress bar, programming language, other 
properties, activity and popularity which is calculated from downloads and 
page visits. Popularity could also be a default sorting key.
