I am not a hardware designer, I only do software.
Have you considered implementing the instruction
set designed by Donald Knuth for use in the final
edition of his Algorithms series? He published the
book with the detailed design of the instruction set.
In the preface he asks if somebody would like to
implement this in silicon.
