I meant transparently directing users who type "www.opencores.org" to
mirrors. Maybe I misunderstood the intention wrong that it should be
done the _direct_ way, by resolving www.opencores.org to addresses of
appropriate mirror servers.
You can do that on the main web server with http redirects on second
thought (and it probably is done that way more often) but then you'll
still have everyone hitting the main server for the initial redirect.
DNS redirect is for the real big mirroring needs where you don't want
the web server having to process redirect tables (which would have to be
done on every access, after all). Then again... You could have a pure
redirection server and have the master server be handled like a mirror.
Just to have an idea, what number of accesses and bandwidth are we
talking about for the current opencores server? I don't expect it to be
as big as e.g. kernel.org, but I still don't have an idea. Was it
mentioned already?
