[oc] What is Handel-C?

I've seen a lot of recent email about Handel-C, or other methods of
working with an FPGA latly, but how is something like that used?  I
haven't used VHDL much, but I feel that I have a good idea of how to use
it in hardware design.  What is something like Handel-C used for, it it C
style syntax adapted to be used as a hardware description langauge, or did
I miss something? (entierly possible since I had a big paper due a couple
days ago, and need to start cramming for finals tomorrow).
