The LessTif Homepage

LessTif is the Hungry Programmers' version of OSF/Motif®. It aims to be source compatible with OSF/Motif® meaning that the same source code should compile with both and work exactly the same!
LessTif is "free software": it is licensed under the GNU Library General Public License (LGPL). You might also want to check out The Open Source Web for a little more information about the Open Source philosophy in general.


LessTif Status
The current version of LessTif is 0.92.32 as of June 2, 2001. The code is available for download in various packages.


Latest LessTif News
The lesstif.sourceforge.net web site is currently not automatically updated due to a service interruption at sourceforge.net.
Xbae 4.9.1 - is released as of June 30, 2001. This version should be more stable than 4.9.0, and contains new features from the 4.8.* development releases (resizable rows, 24 bit color support, some bold column support) which should be considered stable.
We've started development on Motif and Dt printing API's. Read more about what they are, how to use them in your applications, which application demonstrates them, etc here.
The OpenGroup has published their sources of OpenMotif. Read the core team's statement why the LessTif project will have to stay alive!
For some time now, LessTif distributions contain not only the Motif® clone, but also a set of utility widgets mostly authored by Rick Scott. This widget set is called Xlt. From now on, the LessTif CVS also contains the well known Xbae widget set, and we'll be distributing both Xbae and Xlt as separate distributions.

The LessTif home page can now be found on two places : on http://www.lesstif.org and on http://lesstif.sourceforge.net. Both are automatic copies of files which are maintained in the CVS which also holds the sources.
Also we are testing a new version which uses frames to ease navigation. Don't miss to have a try now!
