Priority has been to save/ rescue your data. After recovering the
MBR you might be able to use tomsrtbt and save your data to a floppy
or a small partition. I don't promise this will solve your problems.
However, you might want to give it a try before re-formating the hd.
And, as far as I've seen, no one came up with another idea. OTOH, I
may have missed essential postings.
