Huh, I looked at the ATS page, and I found:

This is some system error, probably not related with GNU toolchain.
Is is possible that server ran out of space?

GNU toolchain should still build ok -- I am using the latest version.
Is it possible to submit a bug report, which includes
screen capture of what you get - you can redirect it to file,
e.g.

../binutils/configure <params> 2>&1 |tee bin-configure.log
and
make clean all install 2>&1 |tee bin-make.log

Without such report(s) we cannot help you build the GNU toolchain.
