Stdio Musician 1.0 1997/10/23 (c) 1997 IKM Interactive http://www.ikm.com Please see the file COPYING for terms and conditions ================================================================ ABOUT STDIO MUSICIAN This is the first release of Stdio Musician, a batch of GPL code from IKM Interactive. You'll need 4Front Tech's Open Sound System installed. We use the licensed version, but OSS Free should work as well. Check http://www.4Front-Tech.com/ for more information. You'll also need to have Tcl/Tk installed on your system. Check http://sunscript.sun.com for more info. ================================================================ INSTALLATION AND RUNNING: First do a make, and then run the programs as % midi_tk | stdiosynth If your system doesn't have /dev/sequencer, you might need to use % midi_tk | stdiosynth /dev/midi 0 or % midi_tk | stdiosynth /dev/some-other-device device# You'll get a window with some sliders to adjust volume, octave, and instrument number. Use the keyboard (home row, asdfghjkl;) to play your soundcard. You can use the shift key, but you may wind up getting stuck notes. Obviously, this is far from being finished, but I think it's enough that folks could have some fun with it. And of course, you're more than welcome to hack the source code into something wonderful and strange. Just let me know if you do something cool, and enjoy! Patrick H.
