HorseEvent is a program to help arrange a horse event, or competition. It is primarily targeted to Swedish Endurance Riding, but might be useful for other horse events too. It consists of an applications form, to be filled in on the internet by the competitors, and some other utility tools to generate all kinds of lists and forms needed during the event, e.g. start lists. Applications are enterered into a database, and the data will later be used for generation of other data. During the event, or competition, clock notations should be entered into the database, and the program will present result lists as well.
HorseEvent is a PHP script and it uses mySQL database. This is readily available on many web hotels, so HorseEvent should be able to run on a typical web hotel. The web hotel should probably be running some sort of UNIX or GNU/Linux though. Web hotels running Windows normally use asp, which is another kind of web script language. During the event/competition, some sort of computer with a UNIX like operating system is needed, such as GNU/Linux running on an ordinary PC. If internet access is available at the event, a dedicated computer is not needed. Instead the web hotel can be used also to run the parts used during the event.
HorseEvent is free software, and will continue to be so. It is free to use, distribute and modify. It is released under the GNU public license to assure it will stay that way.
